Scheduling these special selections simplify the operation of the bell system. These codes can be entered anytime a four digit number is blinking on the front panel display. Some are also available as a pull-down selection while editing schedules and functions using the Management Suite scheduler.
Random Music
These codes only apply to music-capable bell systems. Current models of single bell and peal controllers can use all of the non-musical selections on this page.
One of the Chime Master's strengths is its ‘'set it/forget it'’ ease of programming. The 100-year SmartAlmanacTM makes this possible and you still have total control. Instead of scheduling specific songs or even seasonal music to play on certain dates, simply indicate at what times during the week you want music to play. The system will choose appropriate music for the current season from then on, every week, every season, every year.
Single random selection from music groups
While a four-digit selection number is blinking on the display, press the cursor-up button. The display will indicate Grp_ and you can follow it with a number between 1 and 9:
- Grp1 plays sacred hymns (unless the Easter season is disabled in Seasonal Options) mixed with non-sacred music, and follows the current almanac season
- Grp2 plays sacred hymns mixed with non-sacred music, always non-seasonal
- Grp3 plays sacred hymns only, follows the almanac seasons (this is commonly used in churches)
- Grp4 plays sacred hymns only, always non-seasonal
- Grp5 plays non-sacred music only, will play Patriotic and Christmas music in season
- Grp6 plays non-sacred music only, always non-seasonal
- Grp7 plays patriotic music independent of season
- Grp8 plays Marian hymns independent of season
- Grp9 plays from the User Defined Playlist – requires optional Millennium Suite to customize
Multiple random music selections
In the schedulers, you can continue to enter more musical selections as you did above. When programming a music function button, you can also indicate how many selections to play (up to 199). You can also enter the following timed music blocks in the schedule (must be the last selection for the quarter hour).
70xy where y is the random music group (Grp1 - Grp3 explained above), and x is:
- 0 plays four selections without timing
- 1 plays until 5 minutes before the next quarter hour (up to 10 minutes of music)
- 2 plays until the end of the current quarter hour (up to 15 minutes of music)
- 3 plays through the current quarter until the end of the next quarter hour (up to 30 minutes of music)
Examples:
- 7019 plays music from Group 9 until 5 minutes before the next quarter
- 7023 plays sacred Group 3 music until the end of the current quarter hour
Programmable Functions
You can customize up to eight programmable functions. These are immediately accessible from the front panel when the carillon is in standby mode (not playing and the current time is displayed) by pressing button 1 through 8. You can also program the function in a schedule by entering codes 7901 - 7908.
You can use the factory default codes as follows:
- 7901 Single swinging bell for call to worship
- 7902 Multiple swinging bells ringing together (a Peal) for times of celebration
- 7903 A tolling bell (can be configured to repeat a specific number of times)
- 7904 Plays a number of musical selections (customize how many)
- 7908 Prayer bells are typically programmed on this function
Pre-stored weekly schedule activation
The optional Premium Management Suite scheduler application can store up to ten schedules in the carillon’s FLASH memory. Then you can use the annual or one-time event scheduling features of the Suite to let the system know when to make each schedule active. You may also ‘play’ the macros manually in the Play Selections mode to activate a schedule at any time. The macro functions used to activate the schedules are 7930 through 7939 (for schedules 0 through 9). Schedules are made active by copying the schedule data from FLASH memory to editable RAM. Changes made to the active weekly schedule will be overwritten and lost when another schedule is activated by these codes.
Audio zone switching
This feature only applies to carillon systems with amplifiers and speakers. Inside/Outside speaker switching can be accomplished on the schedule to override the settings made in the Setup-Seasonal Options screen. The following macros switch the speakers to play inside, outside or both for manual or automatic operation:
- 7920 Manual Outside/Automatic Outside
- 7921 Manual Outside/Automatic Inside
- 7922 Manual Outside/Automatic Inside and Outside
- 7923 Manual Inside/Automatic Outside
- 7924 Manual Inside/Automatic Inside
- 7925 Manual Inside/Automatic Inside and Outside
- 7926 Manual Inside and Outside/Automatic Outside (sometimes used to prevent time strikes inside)
- 7927 Manual Inside and Outside/Automatic Inside
- 7928 Manual Inside and Outside/Automatic Inside and Outside (factory default)
Video tutorials
Here is a video that shows how to set up a function for a counted tolling bell, then schedule it to ring at a time appointed to commemorate a memorial event. After the memorial, the event can be removed from the weekly schedule. On our current systems with Premium Management software, the event can also be scheduled on an annual or one time basis.
